The numerous challenges facing agriculture today (climate change, pressure to reduce the use of phytosanitary products, minimum tillage) and the instability of raw material prices force breeders to critically analyze nutritional and cultivation strategies to optimize the food and economic efficiency of their farms.

In addition to these changes, various issues arise, especially related to the scarcity of atmospheric precipitation and, in certain areas, the reduction of available water for irrigation.

Today, it becomes extremely interesting to employ alternative crops with lower water requirements than maize and with promising quantitative and qualitative success.

Sorghum becomes a valid alternative to maize because it can utilize water resources much more efficiently. his species has the ability to produce significant biomass with high forage quality. Sorghum is also less susceptible to mycotoxin attacks and other anti-nutritional factors, which have increased significantly in recent years due to climate change.

Zanandrea Seeds offers the Diger, Amiger, and Energy sorghum mixtures for chopping, composed of BMR varieties (low lignin content), Bmr brachytic dwarf varieties (short internodes with high presence of leaf mass), and varieties with high sugar and starch content.

In addition to these excellent nutritional values, the selected varieties have excellent characteristics for high biomass production, reaching 600-700 quintals per hectare.
