Under ideal soil and climatic conditions, the California mix can achieve biomass production in the range of 45-50 t/Ha (33% dry matter). The choice of varieties and the percentage of species give the produced forage an excellent compromise between productivity and quality. The fiber produced by this mix is highly digestible, characterized by the absence of potassium and high sugar content, which improve the quality of the forage and allow feeding of dry cows.
